The future of pharmaceutical cooperation was discussed in China

A meeting of the working group on interregional and cross-border cooperation and the working group on the special economic zones of the Russia- China Commission on preparation of the regular meetings of the two Governments took place in Changchun, China on August 31, 2015. Entrepreneurs of Russian and China have discussed the current situation of the economic partnership of the two countries and its perspectives for the future.

            The condition of the pharmaceutical cooperation was discussed at the meeting as well. For a very long time China is one of the major suppliers of pharmaceutical substances into Russia. Products from China take 70,5% of the foreign raw materials that are used in medical production in Russia. Also, the total share of Chinese pharmaceutical products reaches from $ 1.5 to 2 billion per year.

          The quality issues, mutual inspection, future mutual R&D projects were also on the agenda of the meeting. Professionals have discussed topics of professional trainings, student and specialists exchanges, as well as educational projects from Russian and Chinese pharmacies.

          Moreover, entrepreneurs from China expressed their interest in future investments in Russian pharmaceutical production, in particular packaging materials for the Russian market. Members of the meeting expressed their interest in further cooperation as the Russian pharmaceutical market has been one of the rapidly growing for the last couple years, with its annual increase of over 10%.

            It is significant that the meeting is taking place before the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, which will be attended by President Putin. The Chinese economic direction provides the industry with new opportunities. The last three years were full of meetings with our Chinese colleges, and these meetings already give some results. I am confident that the todays conference would not be an exception, ARPM Director General, Victor Dmitriev. 

            The visit of the Russian delegation headed by President Putin took place on September 2-3. The president have met with Prime Minister of China, Li Keqiang were they discussed issues of trade cooperation. President Putin visited solemn parade dedicated to the celebration of the Great Victory, and had a meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, where they discussed future bilateral cooperation under economic unity “Silk Road”, Eurasian Economic Union, SCO, BRICS, G20, and APEC.
