The Fifth All-Russian Student Pharmaceutical Olympics- the educational project of the Association of the Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers has started in Orekhovo-Zuyevo. State University of Humanities and Technology hospitably opened its doors to students from all over Russia and beyond. The Fifth Olympics has also teams from Kazakhstan and Belarus.
For the Pharmaceutical Olympics have been hosted in many cities of Russia throughout its history. Now it is the turn of Moscow to welcome the games. Participants of the first games have already become members of the pharmaceutical community, and are working in research, business and regulation authorities.
The Fifth Pharmaceutical Olympics have 29 teams from 27 universities. Students from Military Medical Academy, Moscow State University, and South Kazakhstan State University are participating in the games for the first time.
Top officials of federal agencies and professional business unions gave their welcoming speeches at the opening ceremony.
ARPM Director General, Victor Dmitriev noted that the Pharmaceutical Olympics is successfully developing the project and the geography of it has expanded. This year the Pharmaceutical Olympics designed a flag which will be given to every region that is hosting the games. Mr. Dmitriev wished the students luck and success.
Head of the Roszdravnadzor, Mikhail Murshko also addressed the students. “You are getting the education today when there is an access to many things. You are the students who can get the most current knowledge.” Mr. Murshko expressed his confidence that the participants will have a great future.
A representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Alexey Alekhin read a welcoming letter from Deputy Minister, Sergey Tcyb where Mr. Tcyb noted that the Pharmaceutical Olympics allows students to get more familiar with production details and vision future professional development.
The Organizing committee of the Games noted that the Administration of Orekhovo-Zuyevo played a great role in hosting the event. Head of the region, Gennadiy Panin thanked ARPM for choosing Orekhovo-Zuyevo as the host and said there will no losers in the Games because every student will have an opportunity to get knowledge and practical competence, as well as will be able to contribute to the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry.
The acting direction of the RSPP, Victor Cherepov said that State University of Humanities and Technology is preparing workers for pharmaceutical industry based on its demand. The Moscow region has one of the largest pharmaceutical clusters. The demand for high-class specialists will be raising. Rector of the university, Nadiya Usupova noted that the pharmaceutical faculty of the university, despite its short history is developing well. “One hundred percent of our graduates from last year found jobs. The Pharmaceutical Olympics is an opportunity to exchange new ideas and teach students to know skills and knowledge,” Mrs. Usupova.
Chairman of the CCI committee on entrepreneurship in healthcare, Valery Sergeenko addressing the students said that the profession of a pharmacist gives many opportunities for self-development and wished the students to use the Games to find the area of career development.
Deputy Minister of Education of the Moscow region, Yuri Kartushin officially started the Games and wished the future specialists success and professional development. The participants of the Games will face professional challenges in two professional sections “pharmacy” and “pharmaceutical technology”. Evaluation of the participants will be done by docents of the leading medical schools, MDs, and PhDs, as well as experts and representatives of the scientific community and business.
