The VIth All-Russian Student Pharmaceuticals Olympiad started in Nizhny Novgorod — an educational project of the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (ARPM), which this year is supported by the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
For the long history of the ASPO, various cities held it: Kazan and St. Petersburg, Orekhovo-Zuevo and Yaroslavl, Moscow, and now Nizhny Novgorod. This year’s project turns 10 years old! The participants of the first Olympiads have already achieved high ranks and positions. This year, 31 leading medical schools, two of which are located in the Republic of Belarus, sent their representatives to this prestigious competition. 27 pharmaceutical teams and 6 chemical-technological teams take part in intellectual pharmaceutical competitions.
The opening ceremony of the Olympiad took place in a ceremonial atmosphere. The top officials of the federal executive authorities and professional business associations addressed the participants with welcoming words. ARPM Director-General Victor Dmitriev, addressing the students, expressed the hope that the Olympiad would give a powerful impetus to the development of everyone. “You are at the beginning of a new journey and this direction gives new perspectives. I am sure that the ASPO-2019 will not be an exception and all the good that was in previous events will multiply in this one. I wish you all interesting work, entertaining contests and good luck! ”
The participants were addressed by Anton Shaklunov, Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He expressed the hope that this event will open wide professional horizons for all students. “The fact that you take part in such a large-scale and high-profile event indicates that you are the best students in this field in the Russian Federation and not only. Director of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Alexey Alekhin, in turn, noted: “The development of the Russian pharmaceutical industry is one of the priorities of the state health care policy, and today this industry is in dire need of trained specialists. Many unique technologies and promising projects in the field of pharmaceuticals are now being developed in Russian universities. Carrying out the All-Russian Student Pharmaceutical Olympiad is a great opportunity for students to express themselves; for the domestic pharmaceutical industry, this is a chance to strengthen its potential in the near future and achieve better results. ” The Ministry of Industry and Trade, within the framework of the ASPO-2019, is holding a competition. The winner will be able to do an internship at the ministry.
Valentina Kosenko, Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, emphasized that quality depends on technology. “For 10 years, the main goal of the Olympiad was the development of higher pharmaceutical education. And the fact that this is the sixth Olympiad says that these goals are being achieved. You, as future specialists, should make your choice. Today, not only the main competitions are waiting for You, but also a unique opportunity to get acquainted with employers and understand what requirements they place on applicants. Good luck! ”
Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Volga Research Medical University, Maxim Mishchenko, speaking of the pharmaceutical Olympiad, noted that: “The pharmaceutical industry is currently one of the most innovative, promising and rapidly developing. The personnel component plays a special role in this development, and an event of this magnitude will undoubtedly attract attention to pharmaceutical science in the field of training qualified specialists. The ASPO is the support of talented students, it is an opportunity to exchange new ideas, an opportunity for students to learn new things, find their own direction and develop in it. ”

Participants of the ASPO will have to pass competitive tests in the areas of "pharmacy" and "pharmaceutical technology." The jury consists of leading experts, doctors and candidates of science, experts of companies and representatives of the scientific community. At the opening ceremony, the guests unambiguously agreed that there would definitely not be any losers at the ASPO, each student would have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, practical skills and contribute to the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry.
