General Director of the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Victor Dmitriev commented on the actions of «Biocad»

«Biocad» filed a lawsuit against Deputy Minister of Healthcare Sergey Glagolev, accusing him of inaction. The company is requesting to hold a meeting of the commission for the formation of the lists of VED and 14 high-cost nosologies in order to include its drugs for sclerosis in the lists.

The head of the ARPM Victor Dmitriev gave his assessment of the events:

«The situation is reminiscent of the story with the so-called «show business stars». When they are forgotten, they make scandals to remind about themselves. The issue has been discussed many times. And the complete answer was given by the ministry at the December congress «National Healthcare». Therefore, the current hype is surprising.

From the company’s comments it seems that the fact of holding a meeting of the commission for the approval of the lists of VED and 14 high-cost nosologies automatically means the inclusion of the drug in these lists, but this is not the case. Review of the application does not mean its acceptance, given the work of experts and a comprehensive assessment of the applications. The system of state regulation of drug prices, provision of drugs to patients with high-cost nosologies at the expense of the federal budget, has been working effectively for many years, which has allowed saving tens of thousands of lives. And currently the regulation in this area — in particular the procedure for revising the lists — is undergoing a thorough revision. The Ministry of Health, the Government and socially responsible domestic business have reached a complete mutual understanding regarding the approaches to such revision, everyone understands the importance of making the system even more resilient to the challenges of today and tomorrow — after all, the interests of patients are always above all else.»
