Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, speaking in the State Duma as part of the Government Hour devoted to issues of staffing medical and educational organizations, emphasized that personnel is the most expensive resource in healthcare. Therefore, it is no coincidence that during his latest visit to Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Russian-Uzbek Business Council’s Commission on Healthcare, Chairman of the Public Council under the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) Victor Dmitriev visited Samarkand State Medical University (SamSMU), where a working meeting was held with Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Zafar Aminov. The meeting was also attended by Alexandr Zudin, Director of the National Research Institute of Public Health named after N.A. Semashko.
During the dialogue, issues of participation of SamSMU students in Russian industry Olympiads and Russian students in similar competitions organized by Uzbek colleagues were discussed. Victor Dmitriev spoke about the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers that he heads, its goals and objectives, and current areas of activity. He presented the ARPM Digest, which collected all the significant events of the Association and its member companies over the past year, to Zafar Aminov, who proposed the university departments for conducting clinical trials when introducing Russian drugs to the Uzbek market.
Alexandr Zudin described the activities of the Research Institute of Public Health, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2024, and presented Zafar Akimov with a book dedicated to the anniversary of the institute. He also spoke in detail about the work of dissertation councils, one of which, on the history of medicine, is the only one in the country. Expert reviews of Russian specialists on the scientific papers of Uzbek colleagues, prepared for publication in Russian scientific journals, were provided to SamSMU.
